Germany
and Italy
Germany's
Adolf Hitler and Italy's Benito Mussolini
started a war in Europe in 1939. They wanted more territory,
natural resources, and political power in Europe, the Mediterranean,
and North Africa. The European rulers allied themselves with
Japan's Prime Minister Hideki Tojo. Tojo had already started
a separate war in Asia. The two wars became a single world
conflict when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941. |
