Cloak
left his position as Professor of Drama at Lawrence College to manage
a "Far Eastern" orientation course for the Office of Strategic
Services (OSS). The two week course taught men how to work with
resistance forces in China and the Dutch East Indies. The program
ran from December 1944 to August 1945. The government replaced OSS
with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in 1947.
