One day after becoming the nominee of Democrats for US Senate, Baldwin headed to the Appleton on her car to discuss the economy as well as to discuss the issue how trade deals were costing America jobs. She intended to spend tons of her precious time in the region over the coming days. This is because she knows she must do well along a stretch of Wisconsin which runs through the Fox Valley.
That section of the state helped the democrats in their victory before so it carries so much importance for Baldwin. Baldwin’s spokesman, John Kraus, said that we must be competitive in that area in order to get 51 percent and we are very confident that we will accomplish it.
The Democratic congress woman is going to face Tommy Thompson, former Republican Gov, who has never lost any statewide race. Tommy beat our 3 competitors to face Baldwin and he is well known statewide. On the other hand, congress woman, Baldwin is very popular in her home district, but unknown outside the home district.
Although she easily won the re-election, she must overcome her lack of name recognition to beat an icon like Tommy. She is gonna have to convince the people of the rural areas; which may not be easy for her.
Ever democrats have a real problem to reach out-state, middle-class voters who are losing their jobs. So if Baldwin wants them to follow her, to listen her, she must have answers for them. What these people want from politicians is reduce the taxes on small businesses, rebuild infrastructures and strengthen the manufacture base of the country.
At this point, congress lady will have to perform beyond the expectations in many parts on the state; however, she doesn’t have to win all of them.
