Dear Joe:

We know you!  We’ve worked with you!  We know you have worked hard for us, AND WE ARE GOING TO RE-ELECT YOU!!

We are not uninformed about your fight to expose Communists and their influence in your government.  We know that 11 people have been removed from government since you exposed their records.  We know these facts were available to Congressional Committees but only you, Joe, had the courage to bring the facts to public attention.

We are not confused.  The issue is not McCarthy’s personality . . . the issue is communism!  Some people might have done the job in a different manner, but the fact is  . . . NO ONE WAS DOING THE JOB AT ALL UNTIL YOU UNDERTOOK IT!  Innuendo, half-truths, and untruths about the person exposing undercover communists are used against anyone who has spoken out against specific communists.

Some of our friends say they are not dupes, and quote Mr. Herbert Philbrick, FBI Counter-Spy as saying that Senator McCarthy’s efforts have aided Communism.  We have checked Mr. Philbrick’s book and find that he doesn’t even mention McCarthy.

But here is a Photostat of what Mr. Philbrick actually wrote on the Fly Leaf of his book as he presented it to Senator McCarthy:  It reads as follows:  “With many thanks to Joe McCarthy, who despite an attack by the enemies of our country unprecedented in history, has refused to yield to the forces of evil and who in fact has redoubled his determination to keep on fighting – and to win.  (signed) Herbert A. Philbrick.”

Should we believe what the “Confusionists” say Philbrick thinks?

Or should we believe what Philbrick tells us Philbrick thinks?

We join with others, Joe, like Former Ambassador to Poland, Arthur Bliss Lane, who said:  “I am proud to rally to senator McCarthy’s standard”, and Robert Vogeler, the American who spent 18 months in a communist prison, who says:  “Your vote for McCarthy is your chance to strike a blow against Stalin.”

We’re sorry, Joe, all your friends and neighbors didn’t have the opportunity to join with us in signing this letter, but in the few short hours we had to make the deadline, we couldn’t reach all the people who want to join us.

But we’ll all be voting for you tomorrow, and start you back on your way to Washington for another six year term.

Sincerely,

Mr. and Mrs, Talbot Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Marston Jr., John Dutcher, Mr. and Mrs. William M. Strange, Arthur Croxson, William W.
