All too often, students of history would agree with Lord Chesterfield. Many history textbooks parade a list of facts and dates in front of our eyes and call it history. In order to see the poetry in history, you must go to the source: the nuts and bolts of the past in the form of historic documents. That is what this website is about. Use the Fox Valley Turning Points website to access background information, primary source documents, and classroom activities for a selection of 12 turning points in the history of Wisconsin’s Fox Valley. The activities are geared for grades 4-8, but in some cases may be easily modified for other grade levels. Content for this website is provided by the Outagamie County Historical Society. The Fox Valley Turning Points project is made possible through funding by CESA 6, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and the U.S. Department of Education.
