Call to Duty: Outagamie County in World War II
Curator Statement Back to ResourcesBack to Resources

History exhibits, at their best, act as a bridge between generations. Call to Duty is dedicated to what some have called “the greatest generation.” The men, women, and children of the early 1940s set aside friendships, family, and careers to fight a war against dictators who truly threatened world democracy.

This exhibit looks at how local Outagamie County residents met the nation’s call to duty during World War II. The exhibit focuses on everyday people who were not only changed by events of war, but who played an important role in the making of history. I will be forever touched by the stories of those who sacrificed and fought in this war.

People make exhibits. Call to Duty is the product of many months of work by the Outagamie County Historical Society exhibit team–Kimberly Louagie, Matthew Carpenter, Jane Woolsey, Ryan Schaub, and Lori Van Handel.
